An image created from a single thread. Learn here how a Fadenpause string art work is created and what materials we use.
Our String Art series combines craftsmanship and state-of-the-art imaging technology to create an extraordinary work of art. A single thread is stretched between 5,000 and 15,000 times over evenly distributed points of a surrounding frame. The total length of the thread used here is up to 10 kilometers.
The sequence of the individual thread break is calculated beforehand with the help of a sophisticated computer algorithm. Over 2 billion systems of equations have to be solved to generate a real thread break; no problem for modern computers, but definitely an impossible task for the human brain.
Our computer algorithm allows to turn almost any digital image into a real Fadenpause. There are no limits to the choice of motifs, whether it's the portrait of your loved one, the last vacation photo, contemporary art, architectural masterpieces or a favorite photo of your pet.
The thread used is a special, extremely fine, black industrial sewing thread made of 100% PES multifilament. It is characterized by its high tear and abrasion resistance, as well as its good light resistance and thermal resilience. These are absolutely necessary to protect the Fadenpause artwork for a long time in the best possible way against external influences.
The base frame used in the String Art series is made of high-strength galvanized steel with a matt black powder coating. This is formed into its characteristic, toothed rim-like shape using the latest laser cutting technology. The "teeth" of the frame serve as suspension points for the string, which is why they must be manufactured with the utmost precision so as not to distort the string pattern that is later stretched out.
The wooden frame is hand-glued by the carpenter we trust[utz-design] and brought to shape with a CNC milling machine. The solid wood frames are first cut to bevel and then joined to form a polygonal shape. After CNC machining, the surfaces are carefully sanded and coated to ensure maximum durability and longevity.
Our String Art frames come with a white aluminum Dibond backing. This reinforces the frame, protects the string from damage and provides an optimal contrast to the black threads, giving the image additional brilliance.
The mounting of the picture is done by a special wall mounting system for artwork. Through the two eccentric discs, you can still make adjustments to the alignment of the frame after wall mounting. Two magnetic holders on the bottom provide optimal support. The four-point mounting system results in a constant gap between the wall and the frame.
